The Salty Mermaid
I like to think there might be a little seaside coffee/gift shop somewhere that is the perfect setting for these fun smalls! Four simple designs - a couple of them should make you chuckle too!
If you have Mermaid Crossing, you will find these will fit right in alongside those pieces. The “welcome” model is stitched on silk gauze and finished as a tag/thread keep, but it is equally fun on a favorite evenweave - perhaps framed for over a door?
The round pincushion is set into a 4” Shaker box base from Lone Elm Lane and matches the larger box from the Mermaid Crossing chartpak. Finishing is straight-forward for all the pieces - enjoy!
Stitch counts vary:
Salty But Sweet: 73 x 63
Sea Hag: 54 x 89
Sea Shells: 52 x 60
Welcome: 174 x 58
Picture This Plus: 36 count Sand linen
Weeks Dye Works: Capri, Hibiscus, Island Breeze, Ocean, Parchment, and Sandcastle* (*for background fill if using silk gauze)
DMC: 019, 021, 704, 722
Lone Elm Lane: 4" Shaker Box in Deep Sea
Instructions are provided with the Shaker Box. You might also plan your stitching for something other than a round pin cushion - simply customize the solidly stitched band in the center of the design to fit your own finish.
Weeks Dye Works: Blue Topaz herringbone wool
Lady Dot Creates: Barn Door and/or Sea Glass rick rack
General finishing guidelines are included.
