MARY HAVENS, 1837

The overflowing urn of flowers and the faded colors of this sampler are what first caught my interest, but I was drawn in further by the details Mary Havens incorporated into her sampler and the balance of the composition.

The original is not in good condition, but was graciously loaned to me so I could reproduce it.

Watch for the companion set of smalls, available summer 2017.

Attention Stitchers! A symbol was omitted from the color key; please note that the "up" arrow symbol uses Sage from Weeks Dye Works.

Stitch count: 246 x 244

Lakeside Linens: 40ct Maritime White
Threads:
The Gentle Art: Baked Clay, Caramel Corn (15 yds), Dungarees, Endive, Flax (10 yds), Otter Creek (15 yds), Straw Bonnet, Toasted Barley and Honey Dew* (10 yards)
*Honey Dew was selected for the inner border of queen stitches. Depending on your fabric choice and dye lot, select a floss color which provides a similar subtle and tonal contrast with the fabric.
Weeks Dye Works: Olive, Oscar, Sanguine, Sage
